Welcome Home

“All that is gold does not glitter. Not all those who wander are lost.”

JRR Tolkien

I’m a budget female traveler, storyteller, and teacher. My mission is simple: to learn as much as I can about the world and  do something to make it more beautiful.

Traveling and writing are how I make sense of the world we live in. In the last decade, I’ve travelled to 20 different countries and lived abroad in 3, for a total of almost 6 years.

I write about culture and cross-cultural adjustment; food and traditions; teaching English overseas; hiking, trekking, mental health, personal triumphs, failures, faux pas, and more.

With the spread of COVID-19, I was evacuated from my post with the Peace Corps in Madagascar. Currently, I’m grounded in Memphis, USA, my hometown, where I’m writing and editing this blog, recording stories, recipes and other tidbits I’ve picked during my travels.
